The Thirteenth Tale

I recently read The Thirteenth Tale and enjoyed it, but I don't think this book is for everyone. Who is it for? For adults who love books perhaps. For those who love mystery with a dash of creepy. Maybe for those who loved The Other by Thomas Tryon.

Plot: Reclusive bookworm and occasional biographer of obscure nineteenth-century writers receives invitation to write the biography of the most prolific author of her day. This holds little appeal on the surface, but the bookworm is compelled by something in the wording of the invitation. After reading several of the author's novels, she is more intrigued but suspicious. Will this author tell her the truth?

Told with framing devices, this is a tale to linger in, to wonder about, and to discuss with someone else who has read it. Anyone?

Just finished reading...

Born to Rock by Gordon Korman

Gotta love Korman for some light and breezy YA reading. This one is full of laughs and angst. The protagonist, a Young Republican bound for Harvard on a scholarship, finds his life going to...punk rock hell when he loses his scholarship, is kicked out of the Young Republicans, and finds out his biological dad is a former punk rock god called King Maggott. Seeing King Maggott as a possible source of funds for Harvard, Leo approaches King and ends up becoming his roadie for the comeback tour.

Makes me think of Almost Famous but a bit lighter fare.
